The DL: Savannah, Georgia – A city full of southern charm with a dose of history, good food, picturesque architecture, peaceful parks, and riverfront vibes. A long weekend in Savannah won’t disappoint.
Don’t expect: To easily move parking locations, not very walkable outside the downtown area, short wait times at popular restaurants.
Day 1:
Arrive in the City and check into the hotel. It is ideal to stay
- Check out Wormsloe on the way in if staying downtown- you can spend 10 minutes to a couple of hours here just depends on what you want to do. The well-known street is covered in Spanish moss and oak trees (top left image) that leads to more of the property including Wormsloe’s tabby ruin which is the oldest standing structure in Savannah. Tip: They close at 5pm so plan to do this on you way out if you need more time.
Evening:
- Head to the riverfront and grab a bite to eat at
Treylor Park – it is American style food (large portions) with a beer garden in the back. A popular spot for sure, soplan a wait time. After dinner, check out the many bars listed at the bottom of this guide. The frose is from the Peregrin rooftop which is a swanky spot to grab a drink!
Day 2:
9:00 -12 pm: Explore – some good options include Savannah city market, Paris Market, Savannah Bee Company, Spice and Tea exchange river street, The Owens-Thomas House.
12 – 2:00: Brunch at Collins Quarter – an Australian cafe that has quite a following, expect a wait!
2:00-6:00: Explore
- Walk down
bull street to Chippewa Square, this is where Forrest Gump sat on the bench and did the box ofchocolate scene - Parker’s Market Urban Gourmet, known as “Fancy Parker’s” – fancy gas station

- Walk or drive down Jones street – known for the most beautiful houses
Need a mid-day treat: Check out Leopold’s ice cream: Guinness float made with Guinness ice cream or Tuttufruttie – fruit cake Or

- Dinner – lots of options, you can see more at the bottom of this page. Low key option – The Vault, on old bank converted to a restaurant and got some amazing sushi. Nicer option – The Pink House is a great and historical option, make reservations in advance.
- Ghost Tours – After dinner, check out one of the many ghost tours Savannah offers. Known as one of the oldest and most haunted cities in America, these tours tend to be a popular activity for visitors, so look into planning in advance.
- Pedal Tours – I went for a girls weekend and we did a pedal tour that dropped us off at different bars through out the night.
Day 3:
Morning: Breakfast option at Goose feather bakery, check off anything downtown you still want to see before you check out of your hotel/rental. If on a tight schedule grab some brunch and then head out. If you have some time to kill head on over to Tybee Island, only a 30-minute drive.
Afternoon: Lunch – We took a quick trip over to Tybee Island (lighthouse closes at 4:30) which is about a 30-minute drive and checked out the town, sat on a wooden swing on the beach and then got a drink to watch the sunset

Tip: Know for ST. Pattys Day celebrations, many choose this city as a bucket list place to celebrate. Savannah is a hot vacation spot during March- October.
