The DL: This little quaint ski town is filled with both rustic charm and big mountain runs, Okemo and Killington (which is only 20 minutes away) are the perfect long winter weekend getaway destinations. Just a 4-hour drive from NYC you are able to get a taste of the West Coast mountains with East Coast appeal. I have only skied East Coast and my husband who is more avid skier had only skied West Coast and we found Okeomo to be a good mix of runs for beginners to the more advanced. Online reviews, locals, and even frequent visitors all say that Okemo is one of the best on the East Coast hands down.

Trip Guide:
Friday:
- Check into hotel – we stayed at Main and Mountain. It is an updated air
bnb style hotel with an “invisible” front desk and self . The hotel only has 13 rooms with a fun bar underneath. The rooms were updated, convenient, and had everything we needed for an affordable rate!check in - Dinner at Mojo, it is in walking distance and this place was featured on the food challenge.
- Grab a glass of wine at Stemwinder or a nightcap one of the local bars close to your hotel.
Saturday
- Ski all day at Okemo – we rented our skis at Jackson Gore (which was sp convenient), we drove up and parked walked up to the base of the mountain – there is a shuttle if you need it but we got a close parking spot – walk to the rental shop which is right next the easternmost lift and we walked right on after. This also made it easy to return at the end of the day.
- Apres Ski at the bar at Main and Mountain after a trendy bar with small plates and games inside and firepit and music outside, but before you do this, put your name in at the homestyle hostel restaurant across the street since they fill up quickly and its only reservations for 5+. Tip: We put our name in at 5:15 and were seated at 7:30, they will call you 10 minutes before your table is ready
so do this before you get settled and ready for the night. Only open Thursday – Sunday. - Dinner at Homestyle Hostel – this place is amazing. Things to get would be the
b russel sprouts, the hanger steak and garlic mash, and the chocolate mousse with peanut butter ice cream. For drinks, you must try the “gone to November”. Tip: Even though a hostel you would never know it functions as a regular restaurant. Only open Thursday – Sunday. Also the same owners as Main and Mountain.
Sunday
- Ski Day 2 – go back to Okemo, if you feel you have conquered this mountain then try Killington
- Dinner at Sams Steakhouse or City Grocery
Monday
- Breakfast at the Hatchery
- Snowmobile in Killington – we did the one hour tour with Snowmobile Vermont and it was so much fun. We ended up just doing a double and switched drivers half way.
- Lunch in Killington, we tried the Liquid Art House a healthy cafe mixed with coffee shop and bar.
- Head home!
