The DL: If a quick trip to the beach is what you are looking for from the City, the one hour commute to Long Beach from NYC is the perfect option. Only about a 10 minute walk from train to the ocean and 57 minute train from Penn Station.
How to Get to Long Beach
Train
- Take the LIRR to Long Beach
- Walk Edwards blvd to the ocean (about 10 min)
Drive
- About an hour drive from the City, lots of public parking options (paid).
What to Know
- Get the beach pass online or pay when you get there it’s $15 per person, if planning to go a lot, look into the season pass.
- There are public restrooms
- There is a 2 mile boardwalk if you want to sit and look at the ocean, bike, or eat lunch looking at the ocean but not get sandy
- If not going to the Public beach but somewhere else in Long Beach an Uber is pretty easy to get when you get off the train but hard to get when getting back to the train.
Where to Eat
- Right by the train station across the street on W Park Aev there are a lot of options to grab and take to the beach or take a break mid day.
- Grab ice cream at Ralphs Famous Italian ice or Tutti Frutti
