5 Things to know before doing Christmas in New York City (NYC) from a local. I have spent the last 4 Christmas’ in the City and here are my top tips:
- Book your hotel early, prices only increase and the big “named” hotels fill up quick
- Make a plan by area for the most efficient use of time (my google maps attached to help).
- Most of the Christmas bars are overhyped, (Rolfs being the worst food of them all). Plan out as soon as you can to get a reservation don’t expect to be able to walk into any.
- Christmas in NYC can be even more expensive than normal for ex: skating by Rockefeller tree ($94pp for an hour) so to offset make sure to take advantage of the free Christmas activities
- Pack smart! You will want good walking shoes, gloves, portable charger, and check for rain.
While you are celebrating Christmas in New York City, if you have time try to visit other areas and see the festivities they offer like:
- Townhomes on UES on 76th
- Hudson Yards
- Seaport/Watermark
- Meatpacking
- Brooklyn Botanic Garden
- NYC Botanical Garden Train Show
- Washington Square Park
- Dycker Heights
