The DL: Glen Ellen, California – A hidden gem of Sonoma County this laid-back and charming little town is filled with good food and even better wine. Less than 45 minutes away from Napa, Yountville, the Silverado Trail, and more… options are endless if you plan to stay longer than a weekend. This guide was done for a fall trip, but can be used all year round.
Friday:
- Fly into San Fransisco
- Rent a car and drive to Sonoma/Napa
- On the way, stop in Sausalito and grab a bite to eat and overlook the water:

- Day Plan: Get a driver for a planned tour day – we have used Gordy who owns Eye on Wine a bunch of times – he is great, he picks you up and sets up your wine tours for the day at smaller boutique wineries and drives you around all-day!
- Dinner: The Glen Ellen Star – make reservations, since this is a popular spot
Sunday
Brunch: The Girl and the Fig or Garden Court
Day Plan: Enjoy a low key winery day, here are some of the local wineries I would recommend in Sonoma County:
- Ram’s Gate Winery – food pairing options, large estate
- Imagery Estates – modern, bocce ball, cornhole, wine blending class, no reservations needed, sister property is Benziger, cheaper option
- Repris – food pairing options, elegant vineyard
- Hamel Family – classy, modern estate, beautiful views, caves, reservations needed, one of my top choices
- Benziger – well known, family-friendly
- Scribe – classy option, reservations needed
- Valley of the Moon – food pairings, reservations needed, bocce ball
